Karen Struck and The Three Paws Series

Let’s all give a warm welcome to the incredible Karen Struck!

Karen first discovered a love for children’s literature when reading to her daughter growing up. Inspired by J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series along with many other children’s stories, she began taking writing courses at The Institute of Children’s Literature. During an Alaskan cruise, Karen was introduced to the dangers faced by billy goats who inhabit the mountain peaks. Oftentimes, these creatures lose their footing on loose gravel and even roll down the cliff, injured and unable to make it back to their families and homes on the mountaintop. These poor beings become prey or “dinner” for the bears, wolves, and coyotes that are on the prowl alongside the riverbanks. For one of Karen’s writing assignments, she was moved by the Alaskan wildlife and felt the need to turn an otherwise sad outcome into a story filled with hope, friendship, and perseverance. Just like that, the tales of Boots and The Three Paws Series were born!

After writing her first book, Karen was motivated to continue on with her mission to deliver appropriate learning opportunities to developing children through the sweet characters she created in The Three Paws Series. Each one of the books prompts the main character Boots, along with his friends and family to face some sort of obstacle. Hidden between the lines of these problems they are faced with valuable life lessons that children should be privy to during their developing years. Karen does a spectacular job at expressing the importance and seriousness of each lesson while still keeping the mood light-hearted and geared towards children. Now, Karen is wrapping up her dear Three Paws Series with a fifth book that will tie everything together, leaving you and your children’s hearts full and ready to start the series over again!

Aside from Karen’s love for storytelling and children’s literature, she is also a registered nurse who works in the aesthetic industry, performing laser treatments combined with injectables for skin rejuvenation. She works happily alongside her husband Steve, a plastic surgeon in Atherton, California.

Karen has been writing and inspiring young learners and humans for years, and now she’s got some exciting surprises in the works starting with her new and improved website! Considering that she is in the field of rejuvenation, she felt the need to give The Three Paws Series home base a nice little face lift as well. I mean, why not keep things as on-brand as possible? No longer will there be a disconnect when you or your children are choosing a story or book series that fits each one of your needs! Karen’s new and improved website has become a one-stop shop for all things parent and developing child. Jam-packed with helpful parenting tips, informative articles, and reviews on the book series itself, the site also has its very own designated Kid’s Corner! Here, your growing children can come to feel valued and comfortable all while participating in fun activities that will help develop and foster some much-needed life skills along the way. From engaging word games to coloring pages and character descriptions all inspired by Karen’s beloved Three Paws Series, you and your children will finally have a space to be able to share the joy of learning together!
